Chapter 2: Prime Focus
This chapter is shorter -- a lot of cuteness picspam!
The pictures are kind of borked in this update and in the next couple of chapters, because for some reason the game reset my graphics settings... including uncompressed skin textures. :(

When it was time to give birth, Roketi decided to keep things a secret and give birth at home. The only witness was his loyal friend, Duane Talla, who initially seemed to think this was one of Roketi’s weird quirks.

The baby looked very, very strange, but Roketi instantly loved her. Not because she was a chance to study alien life up close (though that was nice), but because she was his child. He never doubted that for a second.
He named her Aveau.

Duane and the baby hit it off less quickly, but Roketi hoped he’d be like an uncle to her. He ultimately didn’t get his wish: after Duane got married, he moved away from Sulani.

Being a total nerd, Roketi had to spend hours obsessively reaching parenthood techniques.

As the baby grew, Roketi needed to expand the house. He did it with his own hands. It wasn’t the finest house, but it was starting to feel like a home to him now.

Aveau grew up into a toddler.

She ws a bright, energetic kid who woke up in the middle of the night just to play and make mischief.

She was also very imaginative and loved it when Roketi read her stories. Amazingly, she seemed to learn everything – walking, talking, running, shapes – very, very fast.

Being a single parent was still not a walk in the park, but Roketi made it work. He even learnt how to cook for them.

He always made time for her, even when he was exhausted.

Or sick.

Every day was like an adventure for them, and Roketi couldn’t be happier. He adored Aveau.

With Aveau, other people seemed to arrive at the house. Neighbours now visited to check in on them and invited themselves in.

They even celebrated Winterfest for the first time. Roketi ‘s grand meal was… a grand breakfast. Here, Aveau looks kind of grumpy at Father Winter. Probably because he’s buggy in my game and doesn’t always hand out the presents.

He eventually did, because I guess nobody can resist how cute Aveau is.

Ah, yes, the joys of parenting. As much as Roketi loved Aveau, sometimes he wished she’d grow up already so he could get a decent night’s sleep and not just pass out on the bathroom floor.

Of course, Aveau did grow up. As had Roketi, who'd gone from a young adult to a truly, proper adult Sim.
